What is “JoyCrusher’s Menagerie”?
The purpose of this site, like so many others, is to provide a place where I can indulge my vanity. Here you will find various offerings about things I have an interest in, as well as downloads of various items I have created in pursuit of my various and ever changing hobbies. I hope you will enjoy your visit, and I hope you will return periodically to see if there is anything new.
That’s very nice, but who is Yorokobi Assaiki?
He’s my alter ego. For those who may be wondering, Yorokobi is Japanese for Joy, or Happiness. Since my net name is JoyCrusher, I decided to determine that name in Japanese. With no educated guidence, and an online dictionary, I managed to find Yorokobi, one of many words for Joy and Assaiki for Crusher. Hence JoyCrusher = Yorokoi Assaiki, sort of. At anyrate, it’s a name I use when dealing with matters of Anime.
Ok, but, who are you really?
“I’m not questioning your powers of observation. I’m merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.”
– “V”

I started writing programs on my TI, then moved on to the others. Each time, I wrote little apps to satisfy my needs. Back in those days, it was hard to find the kind of specialized apps that are so common today. Once we got up to the level of the 386, I was sucked into the growing WinDOH!z vortex and my programming skills fell almost entirely into disuse.
Today, I can write some C+ and that’s about it, although I do still retain my skills with QuickBASIC and outdated compile-able version of the BASIC programming environment. In the area of C programming, I have been tinkering with the source code for Quake II and SP Action Quake II. So far I have enhanced several functions and changed some of the monsters to use PPM’s which is quite cool. Maybe some day I’ll finish that and my Quake II level. Who knows.
The nom de plume of Federal Productions and MutantWare are fictitious company names I used at one time or another for programs I wrote. MutantWare goes back to the TI/Apple/Adam/PCXT days, and most likely none of those programs even exist anymore. Federal Productions was in use until the end of 2000, starting back in 1998 or so with the release of my JK:MotS level Dartana Space Port. It has now been resurected for some video work I’ve done.
